FAQ'S About 7 Seas Cruise Co.
We recommend credit cards for your protection. We also accept money orders, cashiers checks, and personal checks. There is a $25.00 check fee for all returned checks.
We STRONGLY recommend trip cancellation insurance to protect your cruise vacation investment. Should you have to cancel your trip the cruise line penalties are numerous, and are listed in detail at the back of your cruise brochure. Please request one if you don’t already have one.
Most cruises visit the ports of many different countries and the cruise line will normally send you out the required forms. However it is still your responsibility to have the correct forms and visas required to visit these countries. In early 2007, passports will be required for all air travel into the Untied States. Cruises won’t be affected until early 2008 if leaving from and returning to the United States. However, one should consider that they could be on a cruise to the Bahamas and fall ill while there…and need to fly home. If you don’t have the passport…you won’t be flying home after late January, 2007.
A word to the wise…..get a passport and get it early in the process! If you don’t already have a passport, it may take several weeks to obtain one. Do not put this off until the last minute. Also, if traveling to South America, Europe, Asia and other areas, and you already have a passport, check to see that the expiration date is at least 6 months past the date of your return to the States. This is required by most of the countries you’ll visit.
As proposed timelines for instituting all passport changes seems to fluctuate somewhat, we recommend that you check for yourself to make sure you are in compliance with Federal guidelines. Don’t take anyone’s word for anything because this fluctuating information could make information you receive obsolete very quickly. We suggest using the web. Try a google search for “passports” and look for the latest government information that pertains to your situation.
For non U.S citizens, please be sure you are bringing the correct form of documentation for all the countries you will be visiting . If you are not sure then contact ZIAR VISA SERVICES at (800-683-0119) or your local consolate. For passports or birth certificates visit www.passportexpress.com.
It is the sole responsibility of the passenger to obtain and have available when necessary the appropriate valid travel documents such as passports, Visa’s, Birth Certificates, etc. that are necessary for your re-entry into the United States. 7 Seas Cruise Co. will not be held liable should you fail to obtain any of the above documentation and are denied boarding.
Tipping is at the discretion of the passenger and should reflect the service that you have received during your cruise. Most cruise lines will now allow you to pay your gratuities in advance of your cruise or they will add them to your shipboard account during your cruise. The suggested tip is per passenger per day (children included) and is as follows: Cabin Stewards and Waiters $3.50 per person per day and for Asst. Waiters $2.00 per person per day. Maitre’D or Head Waiter will be at your discretion if they did something special to make your cruise more enjoyable. The cruise lines recommend $1.00 per person per day.
Several of the cruise lines are now adding $10.00 per person per day for tips to your stateroom bill. This is to cover the normal tips to your head waiter, waiter, busboy, and room steward. If this arrangement is not to your liking, you can stop by the Purser’s Desk or Guest Relations and ask that the tips not be included. One word of caution….at least one cruise line is terming $10 per person per day a “service fee”. A service fee is not the same as gratuities. This particular line also does not add automatic gratuities to your bar bill as most lines do. This is a separate item. Also, you’ll find a place on the bill from restaurants on board for a “gratuity”.
